Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Write two complete paragraphs about this proverb.  Remember: the first paragraph is where you explain the proverb's meaning and give your personal interpretation of it.  The second paragraph is where you offer an illustration of the proverb's truth from your own personal experience, or a story you read, or a movie/show you watched. If you're feeling creative, you can even make up your own story to illustrate the proverb.

  1. I believe that the proverb "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" has one major meaning. It means that every person has a different definition of beauty. For instance, someone might consider a certain type of person beautiful, while another person might have a different view on what beauty really is. People have their own tastes and opinions, so their is not a universal definition for beauty. Additionally, someone may not have physical beauty, but rather inner beauty. The term "inner beauty" usually refers to someone who is kind and generous. This type of beauty is almost always universal.
From my experience, the people who have external beauty usually lack inner beauty. They are usually very arrogant and lack kindness. Therefore, I believe that inner beauty has greater worth than outer beauty.

  2. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder basically means that beauty is not universal and that not everyone sees beauty the same way. Some people may think certain things or objects may be pleasing to look at, but others may have different opinions on it.

One day when i was riding in the car with my father,we were listing to the radio on a classical music station. I, personally couldn't stand it ,but my father told me that this type of music is the best and that it is very beautiful. That incident is an example of this proverb because not everybody likes the same thing(just like me and my father).

  3. What does “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder” mean to me. It means that beauty, inner and outer, is judged by a specific person’s standards. Just because someone thinks one person is beautiful or nice, doesn’t mean that another person feels the same way. And it also means that people’s standards vary for beauty. One person may think you have to have blue eyes to be beautiful, and another may not agree.
I have seen “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder” a few times. The few times I have seen it, it has been the same in many situations. People’s opinions of beauty for people where different than what I thought. This was a great example of this proverb because beauty is not the same definition for everyone.

  4. The proverb "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" means that beauty is whatever the beholder thinks it is. Beauty can vary from person to person based on whatever they think it is. Beauty is purely opinionated. Someone can think people with blue or green eyes are pretty but not brown eyes.
I can relate to this proverb from a experience this summer from when I was in Korea. We where at a beach and my mother was saying how beautiful the place was when to me it was just cold, gray, and miserable because what I think is beautiful would be hot weather, white sand and blue water. Beauty is different for every person and even if we do not agree with it we should always respect it.

  5. I think the proverb "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" means that everyone has a different view of what beauty is. I think it means that everyone will have different views about someones beauty based off of different things.
An example of this proverb could be if one person thinks that a person is beautiful based off of their looks, while another person might think they are beautiful based on their personality.

  6. Many people like to quote the saying "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" when asked why they or someone else likes a certain person or object. What they mean is that while some people may find someone to be unattractive or not see any value in a particular item, others may think otherwise. Basically, it means that beauty is relative and not defined by one person or even the majority of people.
A particularly good example of this proverb can be found in the relative value of goods. A dress can be worth $30,000 to an actress who thinks it is pretty but, at the same time, you could probably find people who would not wear it if you paid them to.

  7. This proverb has a deeper meaning then it seems. All people see beauty, but only some people see true beauty. Since humans are so different from each other, they see different versions of beauty. Some only see the outside beauty of a person, but others can see through the outer shell and see the true beauty on the inside of one person. The true meaning of the statement is that it truly depends on the person who is looking to see what true beauty looks to them.
To illustrate this proverb is a very difficult task to complete. For example, I think people who have received the illness of cancer have true beauty. Even though they are not the beautiful on the outside, they show their beauty by fighting against the problems of cancer.

  8. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" means that all around the world, no matter where you are, people have different views on what is beautiful and what is not. These opinions could be that one person thinks people with curly hair are more beautiful than people with straight hair, or that people with long hair are more beautiful than people with short hair, vise versa.
Someone's view on what is beautiful can vary on how or where they have been brought up. For example, a couple years ago I had to do a research paper on foot binding, a process when Chinese women break bones in there feet to "squoosh" them and make them small like a baby doll's feet. People in China find this beautiful, whereas I find it disgusting... point made.

  9. Beauty is something that is based totally on opinion. Some people think that people that are very attractive physically are beautiful, I agree with this. I also believe that beauty can go deeper than appearance. But no matter what I think, beauty is only what the beholder sees. The beholder is all around us, we are the beholder even, what ever we think is beautiful is then automatically beautiful, but to us. For example, I believe that Beyonce is a beautiful woman. Even though most people would probably not disagree with this statement, it simply my opinion. Any random person from across the street could totally disagree with me and say she is ugly. That's just what he thinks though, it is not fact. Because beauty is not fact, it is not something you can force somebody to believe just because it is true, instead it is opinion. It is, in my opinion, the most important opinion just because people make serious predetermined judgements because of it. But since it is an opinion, it does not truly matter since everybody's opinion is so different. In conclusion, Beauty is only what you see it to be. Nothing more, nothing less.

  10. Beauty is a very controversial subject, but everyone has their own definition. Some say that beauty is judged by physical appearance, while others believe that beauty is whats inside, so the world sees it differently.
Opinion cannot be forced. "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" can be applied to more than beauty, and it is often used when one disagrees with another. Opinion is what an individual believes, and not what one tries to force upon you.

  11. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" means that beauty is what you make it. What you percieve as beautiful is al up to you and your opinion. Beauty is what you make it.
in many cases, someone will only be interested in another person because of their looks. when it turns out they are only attracted to a persons looks and not their personality. This is how many people think of beauty. but some people think beauty is something that could be considered abnormal in the eyes of the public.

  12. This proverb means to me that beauty is based on who you are. Beauty isn't something that everyone sees in one thing. Beauty comes in different forms, it doesn't have on form, it has billions. Beauty can't be measured, it can't be limited. It's not science where everything is based on facts. I think beauty is the greatest inconstant thing in this whole world because it's just so different than anything else because of how much it differs and how much it relies on the mind.
An example of "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" is between these two people I know. One guy I know thinks cars are so beautiful. He loves them with all of his heart and he is just so passionate about them. He is passionate about them because his brother loved cars but has passed away. Cars is the only thing he has left of his brother. But then I know this other girl who's family members died in a car. Obviously she thinks cars are the most disgusting thing ever and are ugly. She hates them more than anything in the world because of how they killed her loved ones. These two people see the same things, they see cars, cars don't change. How they see them is different and that's what "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" means.
