  1. "The apple doesn't fall from the tree" has multiple meanings. My first understanding of this proverb is similar to the proverb "chip off the old block". I think this means that relted people can sometimes look or be very alike. It is a proverb that shows the sameness between two things.
An example is Will Smith and Jaden Smith. Just like jhis father, he is famous but not in the same way. Will Smith is an actor while Jaden is an actor and a singer/rapper. He can also be called a "chip off the old block", as well as an apple that didn't fall far from the tree.

  2. What does “The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree” mean to me. Well this proverb means that in most circumstances children are not different from their parents, and they actually pick up a lot of traits that their parents have. People often compare children with their parents and traits show through the children. This can also mean that the child or “apple” wants to fall far from the tree but they cannot escape being so similar to their parents. This can be either an excellent or a terrible thing whether or not you think the trait you have picked up is a high-quality trait or not.
I have seen many examples of “The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree”, but if I had to pick one instance I would pick Ellen in Ellen Foster. I would pick Ellen of having the characteristics of “not falling far from the tree” because she tries so hard not to be like her father and grandmother that it almost takes over who she is. Ellen thinks her father is a terrible parent; she wishes and hopes that when she will be a parent she will be the exact opposite of him, and therefore she has fallen far from the tree.

  3. The proverb "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree" compares the similarities between parent and offspring. A similar saying is "like father like son". They both explain that if you have parents, you are going to share some good and bad characteristics. The parent is the tree dropping an apple, or offspring, sharing characteristics of the parent.

For example, if a child is acting up in the grocery store, a bystander might complain to the parent by exclaiming, "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree". Or in the opposite scenario, if the child exhibits an exquisite skill then one could say the same thing in a positive manner.

  4. The proverb, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, means that people, no matter what are going to share some kind of trait with their biological parents. This trait, in no way, has to be physical even though it can be. One could be very mean like their father, or maybe very nice and pretty, like their mother.
For example, my Dad loves sports, he only played football and basketball, but he enjoys all sports. This might not be a genetic trait, however it is something that I picked up on. Or maybe how my many people say that I take after my mom's side on the looks factor. It does not matter what you pick up from your parents, but no matter what, you will pick something up from them. After all, they are your parents.

  5. To me the definition to the proverb "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree" has a simple meaning, that there are a lot of similarities between two people. These comparisons can either be used as an insult or a compliment.
An example is when a son is so much like his father in his ambitions and also has his strong personality. It can be an insult in saying that someone's son has a short temper, bullies people and slacks of at school like his father did.

  6. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree is a metaphor that compares the actions of a child to their parent(s). It is a saying that can be used as an insult or a complement.

For example, Moussa can be lazy at times and really doesn't care for school. He only cares about having fun and hanging out with his friends. His father left him and his mom when he was young so he could say that Moussa "doesn't fall far from the tree."

  7. The proverb "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree" means that parents and their children are very alike, even if they try not to be. The proverb can mean either similar in looks, personalities, or sometimes both. It applies to the apple and the tree because even if the apple falls from the tree, it is still close to it.

An example of this could be if a child has a certain skill or likes doing something, it would be common to find that the child's parents also had the same skill, because their children are very similar to themselves.

  8. The apple does not fall far from the tree is a metaphor that many people use to compare someone to their ancestors. It means basically that you have some traits of people you are related to. These traits could be positive or negative.

There are many examples of instances where people use this metaphor. One in particular is when you have a distinct physical trait that of someone your related too. Another case when someone uses this term is when you have a characteristic that resembles an ancestor such as being competitive, talkative, grumpy, and a clean freak.

  9. I believe that the proverb "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree" goes hand in hand with the old saying "like mother, like daughter". The apple symbolizes the child figure and the tree represents an ancestor related to the child, such as a mother or a father. Usually, children inherit the character traits or habits that their parents had. Even though some children may not seem like their parents, there is always at least one subtle trait that they share with their parents.
For example, my brother loves to eat sourdough bread. His preference for sourdough bread did not just come from nowhere because my father also is partial to sourdough bread. Nobody else in my family likes sourdough bread besides my brother and my father. This "bread loving" trait was passed down from father to son, which is one example of how this proverb is true.

  10. "The apple does not fall far from the tree." I believe that the statement means even though they are two different people they still have connections that makes them similar. When you have a child and a parent there is always a connection you can make. In other words it is saying that there is always something you can look back to when it comes to family.

Me or the the offspring would be the apple. In my case, i look more like my dad then anyone else. This is where the phrase doesn't fall far comes into play. It is basically saying that there is not many differences between the apple and the tree. The tree in this case would be my dad or the parent who shares that similar trait. The connection does not always have to be looks. My sister acts just like my mom in many ways. This is my input on the phrase, "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree."

  11. I believe that the proverb "The apple doesnt fall far from the tree" has something to do with where you come from or who you come from. I believe that its saying that you are who or wherever you've come from. Its kind of like the saying "you are what you eat". That means if you eat a salad, youre gonna get what comes out of a salad which might be good health because a salad is healthy. This proverb that we are talking about today is much like this, saying that you are where you've come from or who you've come from.
An example of this is that when my mom was my age she was very athletic, extremely athletic. she was always playing outside and had big dreams of becoming a huge basketball player and she seemed to be good at all sports. Now here I am, I love sports. I live for sports. I play outside when I can with my little cousin and I love going to soccer practice. I want to be an olympic soccer player when my time comes. So this example of our love for sports shows that the apple, me, doesnt fall from the tree, my mom.

  12. "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree" is a commonly used proverb. This proverb means that you, being the apple, are not so different from your parents. This could mean that you have personality traits to you that your parents have, you could do the same things that they have done in the past, you could be good at the same things as them, etc.

For an example of "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree", my family is Jewish, and my father is very interested in religion and my parents are parts of the Jewish Federation for Israel, AIPAC, and other things, too, so my father is in Israel a lot. These past years, I have been a lot more interested in learning more about the people of my religion. I go to a summer camp in Israel every summer where I can connect with Jewish people all around the world and I have been spending some of my spare time learning how to speak Hebrew. I hope one day I will be able to be a part of the Jewish Federation and AIPAC some day.

  14. An old proverb is that "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree." It is a saying that refers to the things humans receive from their parents, both inherited and learned. Basically, the speaker believes that people will always be similar to their parents in many ways.
I do not believe this is always true or even that it is rare for a person to be hugely different from their parents. Aside from appearance and automatic things such as speech patterns, in fact, I think most people are different from their parents. An example of someone who did fall far from the proverbial tree is Abraham Lincoln, who despite having a dad who thought reading was a waste of time, became president and guided the country through a civil war.

  15. This is a very true proverb. It makes perferct since becasue all people follow their authority. They mimic what they do to become more like them. This is a great example with children because they always watch their parents. This is one of the main reasons why adults must set great examples for their children.
A great example would be Doc rivers and his son. Doc rivers use to play in the NBA and now coaches the Boston Celtics. His son, Austin Rivers, followed his father into the league and is now in his rookie season. So as you can see by son and father, the apple does not fall to far from the tree.

  16. The apple doesnt fall far from the tree is a widely used expression and I believe is a completely true proverb. It is like saying that someone shares their parents traits or another expression, "like father like son" or "like mother like daughter." People always say it when a child acts or looks like their parent.
It is like when a kid has looks that resembles his fathers looks someone may say "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree."
